Yoga Nidra is an altered state of consciousness accessed through simple yet deep relaxation. In this practice, one is guided into profound relaxation by the release of tension and control in each individual part of the body. Students will be able to access new levels of mindfulness and gain a deeper awareness of their subtle and physical bodies. With continued practice, Yoga Nidra has the potential to inspire healing physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Studies show and continue to prove the many benefits that a Yoga Nidra practice is capable of. Although the roots and foundation of this technique lean further on the spiritual side, the impact Yoga Nidra can have in measurable ways is astounding:
I took my very first Vinyasa Beats® and Yoga Nidra classes with Alexandra Sempel, I have never experienced such a safe, relaxing and fun environment. The Yoga Nidra class is really what saved my life. I have found a relationship with myself through this practice that I never thought was even imaginable. Yoga Nidra has brought an entire new understanding of peace and security. I could never thank Alex enough for the life changing experience.
Alex Sempel takes you on a journey of relaxation by keeping your mind focused while helping you release your tight grip on staying awake. She speaks with enough energy to keep you awake, but calmly enough to guide your body to sleep. Playing the line between forceful and kind that you need to find this delicate balance point of staying awake while your body is asleep. I may not spend much time in the state of Nidra, but I have noticed that my body heals better after attending her classes compared to anything else I have done. One day maybe I’ll be in Nidra for a while, but until then I will keep enjoying the speedy recovery time this class offers me.
Alex's Yoga Nidra class was a welcomed change to my yoga routine. It was a perfect balance to the vinyasa and flow classes I take throughout the week. Alex's soft, calming, and gentle voice throughout the guided meditation allowed me to relax and let go in a way that no other practice had been able to do. Not only do I experience deep relaxation after yoga Nidra, I also feel really refreshed and clear minded.
